Interim Business Development Executive
VXG was retained to perform an outsourced strategic development resource for a venture backed technology startup in order to foster relationships with potential semiconductor and manufacturing partners for a proprietary hardware device after a proof of concept using off the shelf devices.  A VXG principal served in a strategic development role and over the course of nine months, helped create a customized, proprietary device that cost 80% less than the existing solution with a number of industry first features.  Additionally, VXG was a key contributor on due diligence and financial modeling for both of the client’s two institutional venture rounds.

Publicly Traded Infrastructure Company
A publicly traded infrastructure company engaged VXG to assist with developing a strategy for one of its product lines.  The company had grown quickly, aggregating customers in the SMB (small and mid-sized business) space.  While the company had raised a significant amount of funds in its IPO, its competitors were also either venture backed or publicly traded as well and the company did not have the dedicated resources to flesh out a strategy due to its rapid growth.  VXG quickly performed a customer, competitive and industry analysis to help management hone its strategy and identify potential strategic alliance partners.

University Economic Development Initiative
VXG was retained to determine the feasibility of a public/private partnership to bring additional broadband capabilities to rural markets through demand aggregation.  VXG compiled a comprehensive report documenting the industry analysis, primary and secondary market research and recommendations.  During the process, VXG also laid the foundation to gain the interest of potential infrastructure providers and created a test market for the concept.

Large Telecommunications Company
VXG was engaged to evaluate potential partnerships with a large telecommunications company.  The company had implemented a stage gate product development process which included prioritizing potential technology partnerships opportunities.  VXG objectively and effectively assessed these opportunities by performing high-level business case and industry analyses and interfacing with the potential partners and internal groups.

Startup Technology Company
Over a period of 3 years, VXG assisted a startup technology company from a concept on a napkin through commercialization.  In the company’s early stages, VXG assisted with developing the business plan and advising the company on negotiations with its angel and institutional venture investors.  After assisting with funding, VXG helped operationalize the plan, getting to beta in four months and brought in additional management to grow the company to the next level.  During this phase, VXG helped with another institutional venture round along with facilitating a strategic management retreat to formulate a growth plan.
