Ronald Lau

Mr. Lau is a Managing Director at Venture X Group, leading and executing client engagements. He brings over 15 years of entrepreneurship, professional advisory services, and corporate experience across a broad set of industries.

Most recently, he was a Vice President of Strategic Development and General Counsel of Recordant, Inc., a venture backed company providing an integrated capture and analysis solution of telephony and face-to-face based customer interactions. He led the product development and management of several key components of the solution in addition to crafting technology partnerships that reduced costs by an order of magnitude from initial versions of the solution. Mr. Lau also managed the legal affairs of the company, drafting and negotiating agreements, handling intellectual property issues, and creating much of the due diligence with the Series A and B investors.

Prior to co-founding Venture X Group, Mr. Lau was the Area Manager for one of BellSouth Entertainment's largest markets, responsible for the general management of four terrestrial cable franchises as well as a wireless video distribution system. His responsibilities included managing internal teams in marketing, technology, and content programming in addition to being the primary contact for managing the operation's external relationships.

In his role as a strategic planner for BellSouth, he was one of the primary strategists in the development and successful execution of the company's strategy in an FCC wireless spectrum auction as well as managing other strategic planning initiatives for companies in the BellSouth Enterprises portfolio.

Prior to BellSouth, he was a member of Ernst & Young's financial advisory services group, managing projects supporting over 30 M&A transactions. These transactions spanned the range of health care companies such as hospitals, HMOs and physician groups, as well as companies in other industries such as food production, textile, latex manufacturing and biomedicine.

He earned his law degree and MBA from Emory University, and a BS in Finance (magna cum laude) from the University of Connecticut.
